27 September - Along the Brogo River

Day event
Walk Coordinator: Helen Turton
Meet: 9:00 AM at The Brogo River crossing (see walk description)

UPDATE:  The grade for the walk along the Brogo River on the 27th Sept needs to be changed from medium to medium/hard due to sections of scrambling and bush bashing along the river bank. There will be three to four river crossings over slippery rocks so bring some wading shoes. The river should be down enough for crossing after the floods of the recent rains  but if it rains again and the level rises the walk will then be along the river until lunchtime and back along Blanchards road to the cars left at the end

Grade: Moderate/Hard
Distance: 11 km
Description: Go north of Bega along Princes Highway about 15 to 16km and on the right is a dirt road that crosses the Brogo River. Turn off is about 1 km before the Brogo Hall. Meet at the river only a short distance off the highway.
We will leave some of the cars at the crossing and take others to the end of Blanchard Road. We will then walk through private property to the river arriving back where we left the cars previously. The car shuffle will be about 11 km. The terrain will vary. Walking on sand and rocks or along grassy banks but will also involve scrub bashing on steep banks at times and stepping over logs so wear good shoes. There will be a couple of river crossings wading through shallow water.
There will be a cup of tea afterwards for those who would like to come up to Helen's house just up the hill from the end of the walk.
